Conclusion

The “bursting in” of human security in theological discourse has added surplus meanings to the UN concept of human security. In addition to human security as fundamental freedoms for fuller human flourishing, it is now a theological notion that God is the source of human security by virtue of God identifying preferentially with those who suffer the brunt of human insecurity. The survivors of EJK in the Philippines have found in God their solace and refuge. The incarnation and the cross are the preferential and oppositional symbols of God’s unconditional embrace of the vulnerable who suffer the brunt of human insecurity yet yearns for the freedoms to survival and a secured livelihood with dignity in the Philippine society.
